What is the mission of the Warrenton Youth Soccer Club? The founders of WYSC created the league as a place where children of all ages and abilities could learn about sports while having fun. The emphasis is on learning, teamwork and sportsmanship.
WYSC’s Academy Training Program is a travel-readiness program for players participating in the Under-6, Under-8 or Under-10 division that show enthusiasm and possess a genuine connection to soccer. These ages are fundamentally important in soccer development, this is where essential building blocks are built and stood-up in young athletes. The academy program targets technical skills development for each player as well as introducing the spatial-component of the game. Blending these two disciplines in age appropriate progressive drills provides a foundation for young players to grow and advance successfully.
WYSC’s Academy Training Program is a three-season program. The program starts with the fall soccer season, continues through the winter months and moves right into the spring soccer season. Both the Fall and Spring seasons provide 8 weeks of training each, outdoor at the Athey Complex. During the winter months the program utilizes the WYSC indoor gym in Warrenton. The indoor portion of the program emphasizes foot skill develop in a one-hour session, once a week, during the normal work week in the evening (TBD).
