What is the mission of the Warrenton Youth Soccer Club? The founders of WYSC created the league as a place where children of all ages and abilities could learn about sports while having fun. The emphasis is on learning, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Coach / Trainers BIO

Segio Guzman

DIRECTOR of COACHING

  Coach Sergio Guzman has 20+ years of experience training soccer to children ages 5-18. He has also owned a soccer academy in the Fairfax county area for the past 15 years. Sergio has held a summer soccer camps each year in Fairfax county in partnership with Fairfax County Parks and Recreation department for the last 17 years.

In regards to his accreditation Sergio has traveled to different countries taking soccer courses including Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, and Spain. He has a 'C' license from the U.S. Soccer Federation and much more.

David Smith

    David Smith has been coaching with WYSC since fall 2002.  Dave has coached Recreational U6-Boys and Girls, U8 Boys and Girls, U10 Boys and Girls, U12 Boys and Girls, and U14 Boys. Having won 6 championships in divisional play, additionally Dave has coached 3 WYSC Tournament all star teams, U10 Boys, U12 Boys and U12 Girls each achieving runner up in championship games.

For the past 12 years Dave has been coaching competitive soccer.  The list of teams is extensive, having coached U12 Boys, U13 Boys, U14 Boys, and U11 Girls, U12 Girls, U13 Girls, U14 Girls and U17 Girls.  These teams played in ODSL, WAGS and NCSL throughout Northern Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland. 

Dave has lead many Mustang teams to divisional championships and obtained promotion to the next higher division of competitive play.

Spring 2013 Dave lead the Mustangs 01 Blue U11 Girls to a championship win in a stunning penalty kick finish in the Battle Field - Columbus Day Tournament.

F - License 2002,  E - License  2003,  D - State License 2008.

Brian Kotowicz

     Coach Brian Kotowicz grew up playing youth soccer in Long Island, NY. His teams won league titles as well as High School Championships while he was the starting goalkeeper. He has been a coach with WYSC since 2014. Brian has coached from U6 to U10 along with being the head Goalkeeper Coach for WYSC. He has also coached both U8 and U9 Allstar teams since 2016. His teams have finished as runner up in the Spring of 2017 and in the semi-finals of the Fall of 2017. Brian has coached the Mustangs 09 Boys team for the past two years. The team finished as a runner up in the Fall ODSL Division 1 season, the Richmond Kickers Fall 2019 Tournament and at the Williamsburg invitational Columbus Day weekend 2018.  

Brian played College soccer at West Virginia Wesleyan College and holds a USSF “D” License.


Chase Cox

 

   Chase Cox has coached locally at the recreational and all-star level for over 10 years. He has assisted with the coaching and training of several travel teams within the last few years, as well. Currently, he is the Head Coach for the WYSC Mustangs 05 Boys Team.

Chase grew up in Prince William County and began playing soccer at the age of 4. He played for numerous travel and recreational leagues, and also played for many All-Star teams. Chase was a four year starter for Brentsville District High School’s Varsity Soccer Team. Additionally, he has trained internationally and played for Select teams in Holland, Denmark, and Sweden.

Chase holds a current U.S. Soccer “E” license and is working towards completing his “D”.

Mike Vereen

Mike Vereen grew up in South Carolina lettering in a number of sports in High School. 

Mike has been coaching youth soccer since 2008 and coaching with WYSC since 2013.  For the past 10 years he has coached boys and girls from U4 to U17.  Mike has coached in 6 All Star tournaments and making the finals in 3. Coach Mike most also coached the High school girls age division making the finals the last 3 seasons and winning the divisional championship twice. Mike has currently been coaching the Mustangs 09 for the past three seasons. He has lead the girls to championships in both ODSL Division 1 league play, and the Richmond Kickers and NVSC Mid-County Tournaments in the Fall 2019 season. 

Mike currently holds a USSF-D license

Shaun Mcgee

   Coach McGee was involved in sports growing up and started as an assistant coach in soccer with WYSC in 2014.  For the past three years has been the head coach for Taylor Middle School girls soccer team.  Coach Mcgee has his "E" license and is safe sport certified and is currently working towards a D license

He believes in determination hard work and a never quit attitude, which is what it takes to win both on and off the field!
